S.I.N.E. Southwest Indiana Network For Education

SINE has accomplished a great deal in our first five years.  More than simply helping individuals raise their own level of education and training, our efforts have a ripple effect that touches the lives of everyone in Southwest Indiana.

What We Have Accomplished

Since our inception in 2001, SINE has:

• Awarded $2.7 million in Staff and Professional Development Grants.
• Served 2,600+ educators through professional development workshops.
• Invested $1.6 million in 28 schools participating in the Model Schools Program.
• Trained 800+ educators to work more successfully with children from poverty.
• Invested $1.4 million and trained 1,580+ teachers to implement the Four-Blocks methodology.
• Provided 70+ schools with training and materials to implement Accelerated Reader programs.
• Trained 500+ elementary school and adult educators in the Tucker Signing Strategies for Reading method.
• Funded 1,309 classroom libraries.
• Allocated $3.6 million to create county-level adult literacy programs.
• Enabled 5,000+ adults to benefit from GED instruction and testing, adult basic education, computer literacy, and English as a second/new language (ESL/ENL) programs.
• Provided Certificate of Technical Achievement (CTA) training to 40+ students.
• Facilitated partnerships between 200+ educators and businesses through the Learning Exchange.
