Dream It! Do It! is a new 30-county initiative aimed at increasing the pipeline of future workers in the areas of Advanced Manufacturing, Transportation, Distribution, & Logistics and Energy. The Dream It! Do It! campaign was created by the Manufacturing Institute, the educational arm of the National Association of Manufacturers. In partnership with Conexus Indiana, the Grow Southwest Indiana Workforce group, companies such as Vectren and Toyota, and educational institutions such as Ivy Tech Community College, Vincennes University, and the University of Southern Indiana Dream It! Do It! Southwest Indiana plans to change public perceptions of careers in these areas, educate communities, especially the young people in those communities, about the high-wage high-demand occupations that will be available to them as our aging workforce heads towards retirement.
The strategy includes allowing industry to lead the charge in creating clear educational pathways to train workers to be ready to accept the challenges in the future workplace. Plans are underway for activities such as area plant tours, classroom presentations, summer camps for middle school students, internship programs for students and teachers, student scholarships, Learning Exchange grants up to $1,000 for teachers to utilize in their classrooms, and professional development funds to train educators in Advanced Manufacturing curriculum.Want to know more about the history Dream It!
