K-12 Programs & Professional Development - Student Success Process
Student Success Process

The Southwest Indiana Network Education and our Consultants in Education division are pleased to provide support for the Student Success Process (SSP).  The Student Success Process is a model developed in Indiana by the Center for Quality Improvement under the leadership of Dr. Steve Benjamin.

The SSP is a proven process that enables ALL students to pass state mandated tests.

  1. Testing and remediation occur before students are tested on state standards
  2. Additional time is given to students who need it
  3. All of the basic skills are mastered
  4. The SSP uses data to provide detailed information for teachers on each student's skill on every Indiana Standard
  5. Enrichment is given those who master their basic skills

Discover Weaknesses Early

All students are tested to find out which Indiana Standards need attention. This is done using a comprehensive test, the results of which are used to create an Instructional Calendar that focuses on the weakest skills. Short tests are then given every two weeks to assess skills on a specific standard and determine which students could benefit from tutoring on each skill.

Catching Up

Students who are not competent on a given skill are re-taught that specific skill for two weeks while others are given enrichment exercises on the same standard. No one is left behind.

Demonstrate Success

Students are retested on the specific skills to confirm their mastery. Students who receive enrichment are assessed to show their increased knowledge.

Celebration

After students have shown they have mastered the skill, everyone celebrates to show their support of each other and of the process!
