Incorporating writing through assessment and literature, including strategies that work across the curriculum. Relates the standards of different content areas to higher level thinking processes.

Writing with the Traits

Addressing the six traits of writing (Ideas, Organization, Voice, Word Choice, Sentence Fluency, Conventions) through assessment, rubrics, student writing samples, and literature. An interactive workshop that examines children’s literature used to teach the traits, demonstrates the traits, and establishes understanding of the six traits rubric. Activities and writing samples demonstrated to help students with revision.
